Game Day

It was the first day of my internship with Long Beach State’s Athletic Communications department. I was working the Men’s Volleyball game against Pepperdine and couldn’t wait to be a part of the staff.

I've always enjoyed working behind the scenes. Whether it was organizing a party or an event at school. I enjoy putting everything together before the public sees it. I love making everything perfect and presentable. I made myself available as a point of contact. In this line of work, you must be prepared for anything.

Throughout the game, I ran statistics for both the home and the visiting teams. I also distributed copies to members of the media and ESPN. I observed our team as they updated the social media accounts as I was told I would be responsible for it in an upcoming game.

I had walked into the game unsure about what I would do or where I would be positioned. All I knew, as the game began, was that this was a defining moment for my career.
